A song released a day ago dubbed Piga Shoka has caused an uproar over its messaging with calls for its creators to be charged and the video pulled down.
Leading the call is media personality Terryanne Chebet who has petitioned the Kenya Films Classification Board (KFCB) and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations to take action.
Chebet lamented that Piga Shoka was re-enacting the chilling murder of Moi University student Ivy Wangechi.
“Dear DCI, Ezekiel Mutua there's a music video doing rounds called 'pigwa shoka' that's enacting Ivy's killing and basically asking young men to kill slay queens. It's horrific, to say the least. I hope you can act on it with speed. Urging whoever has seen it not to share,” posted Chebet.
A position supported by KFCB boss Dr. Ezekiel Mutua who stated that he has raised the concerns with YouTube with an aim of having it pulled down.
“Raised it with YouTube. It will be taken down.”
28-year-old Naftali Njahi Kinuthia is accused of hacking Wangechi to death over unrequited love outside the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital (MTRH) on April 9.
The sixth-year medical student was reportedly waylaid by the suspect as she walked out and died on the spot after sustaining deep cuts.
Kinuthia had allegedly concealed his axe and knife in a sack.
Terryanne Chebet’s call comes just days after another song, Takataka, was shelved by KFCB after a meeting with its creator- Alvindo - for promoting misogyny.
Flanked by his lawyer Munga Wanjau, Alvindo apologised to his fans and pledged to create positive, “moral” music.
“I want to apologize to my fans and to promise them a second release that will embrace moral values… I am sorry I didn’t intend to incite jilted men against women,” he said.

Something is wrong with our generation.?
