Confirming the incident on Wednesday, Nyamira County Commissioner Amos Mariba said the suspect, Robert Orina, who is a bodaboda rider escaped from the lodging after locals stormed the facility.
"Members of the public stormed the facility after the girl's parents raised alarm. Orina managed to escape from the crowd leaving the girl alone in the room," said Mariba.
The commissioner said that the facility, 78 Guest House, has since been closed.
The county security boss noted that lodging attendants caught allowing clients to use the guest rooms without producing identification documents will be arrested.
He urged lodging attendants to report to local authorities anytime a minor is lured to guest rooms by men.
"It is high time lodging attendants started reporting to police or local chiefs anytime a man books a room to engage in sex with a schoolgirl or a minor," stated Mariba.
Mariba assured residents that the suspect will be caught and arraigned in court.
