At Nyamira town on Friday, Dr Matiang'i said he will keenly follow development issues at the county, arguing that he is indebted to work for the region where he comes from.
The powerful minister said he is in touch with Governor John Nyagarama to establish the projects which need immediate attention from the government.
"There could be a lot of issues that I am handling given the responsibilities. However, you come close to my heart. I am keenly looking at your plight," he said in a stopover.
"I am going to meet your governor right away. We must discuss issues pertaining development. We shall ensure these roads are fixed immediately and the hospital is expended," he added.
Dr Matiang'i said there is nothing wrong working for his people, adding that the region where he comes from should be given priority.
"Everyone has where he or she comes from. Apparently, I was born here and I must work for you. We must do the job first," he said.
