"Several foreign traders are hawking items such as lesos, curtains, body lotions and food products. We are urging the government through the Interior Ministry headed by CS Matiang'i to intervene because the foreign hawkers are a threat to us should they continue selling products at throwaway prices," she said as reported by Egesa FM.
She noted that local traders are not selling their products like in the past because the foreign hawkers are selling their products at cheap prices.
"We have lost customers because of the cheap commodities being sold by foreign hawkers. The foreigners' entry into Kisii town is a big blow to us local traders," she lamented.
Matibe pointed out that foreign traders import products from foreign countries and sell them at a very cheap price.
She further argued that the economy in the region won't grow should the government fail to kick out the foreign hawkers.
